A nice car and sold in Sweden from the beginning, which was very unusual. The idea was probably that it would be exported to the United States as the largest market in the 70’s.
For unknown reasons this did not happen and I am happy for that. From the factory, the car was green. The wheels are not original but the original accessories and it is genuine Ronal.
The engine is easily sharpened V4 1700 with sharper camshaft, Weber carburators and Ignitor ignition system. Valve seats are made for unleaded petrol. A costly but good exhaust from Ferrita is installed. Mirrors are not original, but are very typical, and in my opinion suits the car. Front and rear bumpers are newly manufactured.
The car was also "television celebrity" in 2013 when it appeared in the program Motor on TV9 in Sweden. It is a comparison between Volvo P1800 and Saab Sonett that were the only Swedish sports cars on the 60's and 70's. The theme of the TV continued in 2014, when the car came with the Web television withVeteranbils-TV.
So far, this car is now quite nice as the III. The car was sold as most other 69's to the United States and are still very rare in Sweden. Just the 69 hands have certain things in common with Sonett III. Ex. chairs that are identical to the Sonett III, which have integrated headrest. The car was factory-painted in a blue color but became red in 1996 when it came back home to Sweden 1996 and now yellow with Monte Carlo #231.
